On Friday 13 May 2022, about 150 Grade 9 - 12 leaners from Sinikiwe High School received career guidance from Sunrise University of Fort Hare East London Branch. The career guidance is one of the methods that the organisation utilises towards ensuring that they achieve their mission.
The organisation was formed in 2009 after many recognised the failure to enroll to institutions of higher higher learning in the Eastern Cape after the completion of matric due to the following (not limited to) reasons:
➢ Lack of Knowledge
➢ Limited access to resources
➢ Lack of motivation and support from parents
➢ Lack of values and vision to high scholars
Sunrise made it their mission to see a generation that has been given all the reasons to dream about the better future. The organisation visits high schools around Eastern Cape; conducts presentation(s) that involves institutions of higher learning requirements; motivational speeches; career guidance and University life in general. Assist with online applications and provide forms for manual applications; provides mentorship to matric students to guard their progress in university and bursary applications; provides tutorship programmes in subjects where matric students find hardships; provides study material such as text books, previous question papers and their memorandums to assist in their grades. The organisation also works hard to source funds from sponsors or donors to assist in the application fee and conducts.
